And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. – John 1:14
I was visiting a church back in September when the pastor read the Scripture above. After he finished, he simply said, “And that’s Christmas.” Then he paused, allowing those words to sink in. It wasn’t a Christmas sermon, but that single statement reminded us of a powerful truth — that is Christmas.
This verse not only tells us who was born on Christmas Day, but it also reminds us that Jesus dwelt among us, full of grace and truth. We read elsewhere in Scripture how the angels rejoiced over His birth — the long-awaited Savior had come!
The world had been waiting for redemption, and when Jesus was born, heaven and earth had an incredible reason to celebrate. We continue to rejoice in His birth today, but our joy doesn’t stop there. We also rejoice in knowing that He will return — to judge the living and the dead — and that through His body and blood, we have forgiveness and salvation.
Why would we ever stop rejoicing?

We thank God for coming to live among us — for being full of grace and truth.
May He continue to fill our hearts and our home with joy, not just during this season, but each and every day.
