Pastor Seth Davidson held the door open for me at St. John Lutheran Church in Athens. I entered the building with an eagerness and excitement of being able to walk across the new flooring which was dedicated exactly one year ago. Those who walk on this floor are literally walking on His word. Before the floors were laid, the congregation took two weeks to pray and write their favorite Bibles verses on the concrete floor underneath. Those verses were written in permanent marker. I love what Pastor Davidson had to say about this:
“Though the new wood flooring covers the concrete and the verses, the Word of God is still there. We may not always see God working behind the scenes, but He is with us step by step along the way.”
One year later, after the new flooring, new kitchen, new roof and freshly painted sanctuary were dedicated, I had the blessed opportunity to be able to return. This time I brought with me a Loan Rebate Check made possible by the congregation’s supporting level of investments.
The Loan Rebate Check was just one of the exciting things happening on this Sunday. There was a beautiful Baptism where we welcomed another little one to the family of Christ.
“Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 19:14
